Charles Beeler, General Partner, El Dorado Ventures
Charles joined EDV in December 1999 from Piper Jaffray Ventures, where he was one of three investment managers operating the Piper Jaffray Ventures Technology Funds. His venture capital experience also includes Scripps Ventures, where he helped design and implement an early-stage investment strategy for a newly formed $50 million fund. At EDV, Charles focuses on investments in the communications and software sectors and currently serves on the boards of four startup companies. He received a B.A. in economics from Colby College and an M.B.A. in entrepreneurial studies from the Wharton School.
Jeff Tollefson, General Partner, Crescendo Ventures
Jeff has 15 years of venture capital experience building successful enterprises in a variety of industries. He started his venture capital career with Allied Group Merchant Banking in 1986 where he helped create and manage the Venture Capital Resource Fund, a small seed fund focusing on small Midwest-based investment opportunities. In 1990 he joined the FBL Financial Group, a NYSE-listed financial services company, as manager of the firm's venture capital investment portfolios. Jeff joined Crescendo's predecessor, IAI Ventures, in 1995, and has been responsible for the firm's investments in the field of medical technology in addition to providing counsel and business-building guidance to Crescendo investments in other technology fields.
Paul Bieganski, Managing Director & CTO, Cargill Ventures
Paul Bieganski is the Managing Director and Chief Technology Officer of Cargill Ventures. Paul has over fifteen years of technology and business experience in the software, embedded computer and medical device fields. Most recently he was Chief Technology Officer at Net Perceptions. Prior to Net Perceptions, he was the Vice President of R&D at Signum Systems Corporation, co-founder and President of TeleMedical Inc. and Vice President of R&D at Advanced Medical Systems Corporation. Paul also served as a National Science Foundation post-doctoral fellow at the University of Minnesota Center for Molecular Bioinformatics.Ê Paul holds a number of patents and has published research on computational biology, protein structure modeling, data visualization, and software development. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Minnesota.
